It has been a year since Nasrat Parsa, one of Afghanistan’s greatest artists, passed away. Even though a year has already passed, we all remember who he was and we always will. For more information about Nasrat Parsa and his life you can go to his official website.

Nasrat Parsa was interested in music since he was a small child and he used to sing at a very young age. He started off with a few songs on Kabul radio in Afghanistan and made it all the way up to private teachings by great ustad`s such as Mohammad Hossein Sarahang and Monawar Ali khan.

Accomplishments:
”I participated in plays and musicals alongside my brother Najeeb at the University of Kabul, where he was head of the Performing Arts in the Science department. At age 7, I sang a song on the radio game show hosted by Zohra Yusof.
I was also fortunate to be given the chance to absorb from classical teachings of my master, Ostaad Mohammed Houssein Sarahang (God bless him) and his son Eltaf Houssein, who were also family friends. At age 12 I immigrated with my family to Pakistan and on to India. In a matter of two years in Delhi, India, I attended the school of music where the great Pandate Daish Pandi taught.
In India, I was fortunate enough to have private teachings from Ostood Monawar Ali Khan.”

After leaving Afghanistan he recorded over 10 different albums like, Gohar, Negah, Saia, Naaz and his recent album, Dil. Before releasing his album “Dil”, he had a tour in Europe and Canada to promote this album. His latest concert was in Vancouver on May 7th 2005. This concert took place on mothers day and a great amount of his fans showed up. Unfortunately, some drunk fans attacked him after the concert for immature reasons and this unfortunate incident became fatal to him. Nasrat parsa died at the age of 36 in the morning of May 8th 2005. May he rest in peace..

I have put his best hits and some commentaries together as a Gulcheen CD which you can download here exclusively on Mastana. In memories of dear Nasrat..
